Presenting at OACUHO/University of Guelph this weekend…

I have the pleasure of heading to Canada today to present twice at the OACUHO Residence Life Conference at the University of Guelph.  Growing up in Rochester, NY, going to Canada feels a little bit like coming home.  The first session I’ll be doing this weekend is to the RAs and student leader’s in attendance on engaging their residents with and in conversations about social media.  The second is for the professional staff on how to be a digital SApro and seek out professional development online.

Student Presentation:
Social Media Momentum: Developing Digital Community in Residence

OACUHO.001For the students I will be talking about engaging their residents in conversation about social media and role modeling the way.  It’s about moving beyond the program.  It’s also about challenging residents about who they want to be, how they want to act, and what they want to do.  My message is also about how social media doesn’t replace the real world, but if used smartly, it can enhance it:

Professional Staff Presentation:
Be A Momentous Professional Online

Digital.001For the professional staff, I will be presenting on how to leverage online professional development opportunities, build a network and create the digital identity you want.  There are a lot of great free resources out there.
