Ed Cabellon and I are excited to be offering up a new collaborative session at the 2015 ACPA Convention. We’re both bringing our own unique spins on the topic of how institutions of higher education can ramp up and enhance their social media presences to engage students. Come for a very practical approach to the topic that will leave you with the basics of what you need to think about to get started. We’ll cover getting the right pieces and players in order, developing an overall strategy, and how to plan for content. Follow along on the Twitter back channel at #SAsocial.

Abstract
Higher education institutions and departments are feeling increased pressure to “get online” and “get social.” This type of engagement with students has the opportunity to impact educational outcomes, both positively and negatively. This session will provide examples of institutional/departmental engagement and an analysis of their results. It will conclude by offering a philosophy and framework for student social and digital engagement success.
